Weddings at The Lodge at Torrey Pines

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is a coastal resort in sunny San Diego, perfect for a nearby destination wedding for Southern Californians and ideal for a domestic destination wedding for those of you looking to live in luxury for a few days without needing your passport.  The property is reminiscent of the Craftsman era, full of rich woods, home-like touches, exposed brick, fireplaces galore, giant trees, stained glass, and of course, a world-class golf course.  That’s right, this is the perfect place for grooms (and gals too)!

If your guy loves to golf, he’ll be happy to know the property (and wedding ceremony lawn) overlook the Torrey Pines Golf Course (it’s public, so all can play), when the US Open isn’t in town that is!

That ceremony lawn, did we mention how spectacular it is?!  The Arroyo Terrace looks onto the 18th hole, and then of course, the Pacific Ocean – what a view!  It holds up to 220 guests for ceremonies, even dinner and dancing beneath the stars if you so choose!

But the beautiful lawn, richly appointed ballroom (complete with Craftsman style fireplace), and golf course aren’t even the best part.  I recently stayed at the resort and the friendly people greeting you at every turn, waiting on you at every possible moment, and making sure no detail on your big day is left undone is what really made me want to come back for more.  Their weddings department is all-star and every person we came in contact with on property was a delight (so much so that we forced our waitress to try the wine she suggested – it was so good and she had been so helpful).

Service aside, The Lodge locations are great for parties large and small.  A presidential suite also overlooking the course makes for a great welcome cocktail reception location or a dinner party patio for an intimate I do.  Want something mid-sized?  Consider the Signature Courtyard for a secluded and more private ceremony spot.  Or go grand and dance the night away in the ballroom tucked away in a part of the hotel that makes you feel like the only people on property.

And while you’re on property, don’t forget to hit up the spa!  Get a great massage from Kirsteen (I highly recommend) and unwind after a day of hiking the nearby trails of the nature preserve or hitting the waves in the ocean below.

The Lodge at Torrey Pines is surrounded by sea, city, golf, and the great outdoors – a perfect combination for a destination wedding location.  Spend an afternoon shopping in La Jolla before you head back for dinner and some fresh, seasonal and local fare from A. R. Valentien (when I was there, they were serving up a seasonal peach salad that was to die for)!
