Color Palette Inspiration: Orange

orange wedding

When brides and grooms think of orange color palettes they usually think of Fall weddings but orange actually makes for a lovely color palette as we head into Summer. If you’re not looking for something as bold as orange perhaps try out coral or peach since they are on the softer spectrum of this daring color. Orange can easily be combined with other colors like fuchsia, purple, or red for a vivid and festive wedding scheme. Stay away from combing with colors such as blacks and browns as this is what will make it look more like a Fall wedding rather than a bright and cheery Summer wedding! Remember even oranges themselves can play a part on your big day whether your mixing them into drinks or use them as decoration on your cake! Happy Planning!

Bright Orange Wedding Ideas

It’s the summer time, and summer is all about bright bursts of color! There have been a lot of summer weddings showcasing fresh coral, mint, and blush, so why not choosing a color that’s a little different? Orange, though not a commonly chosen color for a bride’s color palette, is a fun and refreshing color! It serves as a great accent color if your choosing more neutral tones for your wedding (goes great with navy, blush pink, or cream tones). You can pair orange with an unconventional color like purple, or with other tropical tones like fuchsia. We absolutely love the pop of color it gives in photographs! Will you be using orange for your wedding?

A Colorful Destination Wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico

cabo destination wedding

Gloria and Fernando hosted their destination wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico.  Having been to many other weddings, Gloria knew exactly what she loved most and what they were looking for.  “The best weddings I have ever been to were at a beach. I love the whole idea of having a destination wedding since it is not just one day; it is a whole weekend of festivities. Besides that, everyone is super exited since they are taking a long weekend to travel!”

The adorable pair met long ago at a bar…later that night Fernando added Gloria as a friend on Facebook and the rest was history!  They have been practically inseparable ever since!

“It was not a big wedding (at least not for Mexican standards). We had a great time spending lots of time with our friends and family. We also had enough time during the night to spend with each guest. They all made a huge effort to go to the wedding so we really wanted it to be something special for them. It was a wedding of my dreams!”

The reception, though not large in size, was full of personal and oh-so colorful details!

The head table sat under a canopy flanked with color corrdinating lanterns – love this idea!

The coral motif was woven throughout the decor – from statement pieces on coffee tables to illustrations on place cards (and even on the welcome bags too).

The color of coral was also a common theme.  Bright hues of oranges  and pinks popped off the tables in celebration!

A Colorful Destination Wedding in Malaga, Spain

destination wedding photographer

Teresa and Todd traveled all the way to Malaga, Spain for their fun and festive destination wedding!  Set to the backdrop of the Mijas Mountains, this beautiful wedding was complete with laughter, love, and a lovely orange inspired wedding cake too!  The couple, who met in Hoboken, New Jersey call themselves “nerds” and as such, exchanged chemical formulas on a bar napkin before falling in love and eventually exchanging vows.

Todd and Teresa have a shared love of Seville, Spain where Todd taught English and Teresa attended the University of Sevilla during a semester abroad. Both fell in love with the city and the culture, and Teresa in particular with the Flamenco.  The exotic dance was even woven into their wedding theme!

Orange was the focal color for the day.  The bride carried a bright beautiful bouquet while her maids carried orange fans with blue lace to pay homage to their Spanish location.

After the ceremony, the reception was set for the intimate crowd around a beautiful pool and garden.

Since Todd is a teacher who focuses on protecting the environment, it was important to them to use natural elements in their wedding.  The tables had burlap runners and they incorporated wooden circular tree rings in their design.

We love all these natural elements and the fresh fruit that adorned the table!  What a great idea (and festive too)!

And what wedding would be complete without a perfectly themed cake to match?!?!  Too cute!

As one of the gifts, guests were given old classic Hemingway books that they found for each traveler.

Favorite memories for the couple? “A friend playing the flamenco guitar during the wedding ceremony and a flamenco show during the reception, along with the speeches that Teresa’s best friend and Todd’s best man made. They were straight from the heart and incredibly touching.”

A Cabo, Mexico Destination Wedding by the Beach

cabo san lucas destination wedding

Cathy and Josh planned a fun and festive destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.  The couple clearly let their personalities shine in this big event, and guests enjoyed every minute of it!

The pair said “I do” at Hacienda Cocina y Cantina, a place they both fell in love with during their search.  Josh was away at sea working as a United States Merchant Marine so planning a destination wedding was a bit of challenge.  But Cathy’s dad stepped in and helped out when she needed it, making sure the day was just right for this happy couple.

The color palette was a cheerful blue and yellow with pops of pinks and orange.  Talk about a celebration!

Cathy and Josh met through Josh’s little sister who had a hand in putting the pair together.  She insisted repeatedly that he needed to meet her friend Cathy.  And once they did, the rest was history!

The beach wedding had a beautiful ceremony structure to fit nicely with the culture but not to take away from the amazing scenery.

Great idea for an outdoor or destination wedding – give your guests sunglasses (color coordinating of course) for the ceremony.

For the reception, lanterns and terracotta pots lined the tables, keeping with the authentic style of decor.

Cathy’s father not only helped with the wedding planning, but he became part of the entertainment too!  He wrote and performed songs during the reception, dedicated to the newlyweds of course.  What a special memory to have!
