Beach Wedding Photo Shoot

beach wedding inspiration shoot

I’m totally and completely obsessed with today’s inspiration shoot captured by Tinywater Photography.  A team of talented event professionals, lead by Amber of Platinum Planning, designed a beach wedding shoot unlike any other that I’ve seen.  With the movie, Endless Summer in mind, they took inspiration from the silver screen and interpreted it into a vintage beach party we would have loved to attend!  So many great ideas for the casual but detail driven destination beach wedding.

All the surf inspired paper products were designed with fun and a sense of nostalgia by Alice Koswara.  This is one destination wedding invitation that is sure to get guests excited about packing their bags!

Surfboards not only doubled as a ceremony marker but also served as the guest book for friends and family to leave loving messages on.

For the intimate reception dinner, guests were welcomed to pillows in the sand and a low table draped in burlap and adorned with all the natural and vintage elements of the era they were inspired by.

To continue to carry the theme, mini surfboards were used for place cards.  So cute!

The burlap napkins were embellished with raffia and shells to finish off the ocean look.

And what’s a beach party for your wedding without a themed dessert bar?!?!  Complete with a cookie tower and even an ice cream station, this is every kid’s fantasy (and that of the kid in us too).

Mini bakery boxes and wax lined bags filled with sweet treats were the wedding favors designed by the team, and of course, it all matched perfectly with the tabletop.

Now here’s where they really got creative – dinner and a movie – at the beach!!!!  What an amazing rehearsal dinner idea for a destination wedding!!  Screen home movies, a photo slide show, or perhaps your favorite feature film in the background of dinner in the sand or as night falls to give your guests a different activity to partake in at the end of the evening.

Blankets and throw pillows welcomed guests to the screen when darkness came.

What a relaxing and laid back wedding day this would be!  We love it!  But if it’s a bit too casual for your style, consider the concept for a fab rehearsal dinner night instead!

Turquoise Wedding Accessories

I have gotten so much wedding inspiration from watching the stars strut their stuff on the red carpet during the awards season! Looking through archives I found a beautiful jewelry piece that Eva Mendes wore to the Golden Globes that she paired with a lovely white dress, so my first thought: this would be the perfect idea for a destination bride’s accessory!

Add this pop of turquoise to your wedding gown or bridal party to create a bright and cheerful feel to your day! Contrast the formal and ornate jewelry with a more casual shoe for an eccentric feel; and don’t forget about the boys. Accent the suits with a bright turquoise tie with custom graphic – it adds a nice original and playful look to his wedding day. Want to keep it simple and classic? You can always tone it down and make the turquoise a bit more discreet by adding hints here and there through tiny teardrop earrings or a beaded bracelet.  It’s all up to you. Trending in 2012, pale turquoise is the perfect accent for any spring or summer wedding!

Wedding Leis

Love a lei!  Leis or floral garland (which actually can be made of just about any material) look lovely around the neck of a destination bride or groom!  Seen in most Hawaiian destination weddings, we thought we would expand on the idea a little to go beyond just the islands.  Perhaps this is your one DIY wedding element and you make your leis from paper hearts for all the bridal party or just the flower girl to wear.  For the guys?  I love a nut lei with that chunky masculine look.  And if you want to involve your guests, setup a lei station pre-ceremony so the entire group gets a beautiful accessory (and looks good in pictures too).  If a lei isn’t your bridal style, then consider a statement necklace that looks the part instead.

One of my favorite ways to incorporate leis into a destination wedding is to give one to each parent during the wedding ceremony, as a sign of love and appreciation (and a nice way to involve them from the front row – or even just the moms).  Together you can turn and adorn your parents with leis on both sides of the aisle.  At Tracy and Adam’s wedding (that we shared last year), they chose to give each other’s parents leis so the groom to the bride’s parents and the bride to the groom’s parents.  So sweet!

If fashionable flowers aren’t for you, then dress your sweetheart chairs and lay (no pun intended) leis on each seat back instead!  Or create a lei making station for the kids area and even include non-perishable versions in each guest’s welcome bag upon check-in to give them something fun to wear by the beach.  Don’t forget the ever popular tongue and check tag – get lei’d!
