Destination Wedding in Washington State

washington destination weddingsToday’s couple may have chosen a stateside destination wedding, but their fairytale love story began far, far away. Caitlin and Nicholas met in South Africa, where Nicholas lived and Caitlin was spending time working with orphans. The two fell in love and began their long-distance relationship, but eventually Nicholas followed his heart and moved to the states to be with Caitlin! They chose the not as far but equally beautiful Semiahmoo Resort on the bay in Washington as their venue and tied the knot by the water. With all-white decor and the ever so appropriate travel-themed details, we’re head over heels for this celebration from Amy Lashelle! destination-weddings-in-washington-stateWashington state may not be known for it’s sunny skies but the clouds parted for Caitlin and Nicholas’ big day, giving them a perfect view of Canada across the bay as they said “I do” on the dock. After sending and receiving many a love note to eachother, they opted for guests to sign their well wishes on vintage postcards instead of a traditional guestbook.washington-destination-wedding-ceremoniesSince Nicholas had only recently moved to the States, the bride and groom walked back down the aisle after their grand exit and dismissed each guest personally, to serve as both an introduction and a thank you for sharing in their celebration. After the guests had happily headed to cocktail hour, the newlyweds enjoyed the perfect photo ops Semiahmoo’s waterfront location offers: calm waters, sailboats, weathered wood and beautiful sunshine abound!waterfront-destination-weddings-in-washingtonIf all-white receptions and dramatic draping tug at your destination-wedding-loving hearts, then prepare to fall in love! Steven Moore Designs turned the dock’s tent into a vision in white with unique blooms in various vessels and eye-catching chandeliers hanging high above.white-wedding-receptionsTheir dessert display is perhaps our favorite part. We love our sweets over here, and clearly Caitlin and Nicholas do too! Cakes and confections of all shapes and sizes sat atop their travel-themed perches just waiting to be devoured as the evening came to a close. And, wow, do we wish we could have taken part!destination-wedding-cakes

Congratulations Caitlin and Nicholas!
