Vintage Wedding Details in Tuscany

Today’s wedding isn’t an actual wedding, but a mock one – a romantic styled shoot created by the team over at Innocenti Studio in Florence, Italy.  The shoot incorporated seasonal winter elements, local accents, and lots of fabulous fashion with a vintage flair!  Emma from Innocenti shared with us the behind the scenes of this could-be big day.

“This styled shoot was inspired by the idea of creating an intimate wedding that felt like it was being celebrated at ‘home’ in a cozy and almost bucolic fashion. The perfect location for this atmosphere was Fattoria La Serra, an early 19th century farmhouse on top of Carmignano hill looking onto Florence’s valley, with a distant view of the Duomo and the Giotto tower.”

“The Bride’s hair and make-up was inspired by the romantic dress. For the hair, Marina choose a soft side chignon and for the make-up warm and subtle tones, with a touch of colour on the lips. The beautiful dress was hand-made with French lace in pale pink and the same fabric was used for the boutonniere on the groom outfit.”

“Alongside a main room and a winter garden, the stone farmhouse has 5 adjacent rooms opening one into another through arches and old wooden doors that creates a sense of intimacy and openness at the same time.  Above all, we wanted to portray a romantic atmosphere, with rustic yet sophisticated details and vintage touches.”

“The wedding table was set in the first room, the kitchen, next to the old wood stove and vintage accessories. We purposely chose a simple setting to recreate a typical Tuscan rustic table accompanied by silver cutlery for added elegance and attention to detail. We opted for the use of lace mixed with recycled materials (cans and bottles), ropes, and porcelain.”

“The colour palette was to use delicate pink and green for the flowers, cooler winter colours for invites and menus, tobacco and natural rope for the table setting and the menu.”

“Stationary, invites and menu were drawn by hand and water-coloured individually.”

“The third room was set for serving tea and cake, with vintage vases and silver teapots used as flower holders and tea served in withe porcelain cups.”

“The flowers were absolutely seasonal: sweet avalance roses, groundsel, wax flowers. The bouquet was romantic, made in the classic round and compact shape with the same flowers, and bound by white lace.”

“In the second room, we used the view from a big window as the backdrop for the main cake and the sweet tables, with macarones, biscuits and Italian almond confetti in white and pink.”
