A Sweet Elopement in Costa Rica for Just Two

Mark and Kendall tied the knot in a beach elopement in Costa Rica – for just two! The lovebirds wed in Mal Pais at a beachfront AirBnB with the help of local wedding professions who made the event exactly as they pair wanted it to be. This event just goes to show, you don’t need to have a large guest count to have a gorgeous destination wedding! They had no guests at all!

Kendall shared their love story and how their day came to be with us…

We wanted something gorgeous, memorable and tropical. Since this was also going to be our honeymoon we wanted it to be somewhere we both have wanted to go. I’ve always wanted to go to Costa Rica for years and Mark had been before on surf trips and always talked about going back with me. It was the perfect choice for us.

The rock ceremony during our vows was really special. Our officiant was amazing and had such beautiful words to share about love and relationships. It was very different than any other ceremony either of us have been to and felt so perfect for us and special. And although we couldn’t see them because we were reciting our vows, to know whales were jumping behind us during that time was pretty incredible.

Mark was the best groom as he was so easy going and really let me take the reigns on the whole wedding. I got to put together my dream ceremony. I wanted something beautiful and tropical but still have a little rustic feel to it. I love beautiful white neutral palettes and find such beauty in their classic simplicity. I had looked online for some beach elopements for inspiration and stumbled on one from Mal Pais Weddings. I immediately reached out to Lisavette and Myriam and asked for their help. I was a little nervous to put this together having never been to the property, but they were amazing in helping put together my vision. It all came together so perfectly. The house we chose to stay at was the most beautiful property and couldn’t be a better location for a wedding.

The whole evening was memorable. The breathtaking unforgettable sunset. The private dinner. The ceremony. Being able to finally marry each other. I think we really both enjoyed the intimacy of it all though. Having this gorgeous wedding setup and evening just for the two of us was something so amazing it’s hard to put into words. Like hosting this big beautiful event with just the two of us to enjoy.
