Festive Destination Wedding in Las Vegas

Tamara and Karol opted for a festive Las Vegas destination wedding, one where they embraced all the city has to offer couples.  This wasn’t a quickie Vegas wedding however, the lovebirds selected the city for the special meaning it had right from the start of their relationship.  The newlyweds shared their story (and their wedding planning advice) with us!

Las Vegas held a special place in our hearts.  It was our first trip together as a couple, I proposed to Tamara in Vegas on New Years Eve 2014, and we had such great memories from all our trips to Vegas that it was just a natural perfect fit to be married in Vegas.

A favorite moment from the day for the groom?  When Robert our photographer set Tamara and I back to back where we then turned around to see each other for the first time that day.  Seeing Tamara in her dress was an emotional wonderful moment that I will remember forever and Robert captured it for us magically.

Our photo stop at the Neon Sign Museum was really cool and was a great backdrop to capture some iconic and unique photos with our wedding party.

We wanted a fun environment with a great strip view for our guests to enjoy.  The Hard Rock Cafe had this cool vibe and a good location on the strip.  We had a lot of family coming in from overseas and many North American guests were coming to Vegas for the first time so we wanted their first Vegas experience to be memorable.  Our Hard Rock Cafe coordinator Christy was amazing and very detailed oriented and patient.  She connected us with a great décor designer from Naakiti Floral Design that helped create the vision we had for the floor space at the Hard Rock.

The couple’s destination wedding planning advice, now that they are newlyweds?

Communicate with each other through the process.  A local professional wedding coordinator is a good idea when trying to plan an elaborate wedding.  We coordinated everything ourselves but we now have a whole new respect for what wedding coordinators do.

You will go over budget no matter how stringent you are.  Be ready to spend more than you planned for.

However, if there is one tip we can give anyone planning a destination wedding is to spend the money on the best photographer and videographer you can.  They will help capture and create memories that will make you smile every time you look at your photos or videos.  Robert Evans and Jeff Berlin were our dream team and we cannot thank them enough for their efforts, patience, and amazing eye to capture these memories on our special day.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

An Off the Strip Las Vegas Wedding

Sarah and Clayton said I do outside of Las Vegas for their destination wedding celebration.  We asked Sarah to share the details of their big day and how they came to be.  Clayton and I stumbled upon the Springs Preserve by accident!   We thought we made an appointment to see a ranch on the outskirts of Las Vegas and I was cursing the GPS for taking us to this unknown location!  As soon as we drove in, we knew we had found a hidden gem!  We were looking for an outdoor venue to support our country theme, and the Springs Preserve was full of beautiful gardens and country style décor embedded throughout the property.  It was the first and last venue we looked at.”

“My husband was born in North Carolina making him a Tarheel fan for life!  This made it a must to incorporate baby blue into as many details as we could! I also knew it would earn me some bonus point with my mother-in-law because she is a diehard fan as well!”

“The “first look” moment that Chelsea Nicole Photography created for Clayton and I was unforgettable!  I was lead down a dirt path by Chelsea and her assistant, both holding parts of my wedding dress above their heads!  My childhood best friend had asked me if she could sneak down with us and spy on the first look.  So through the long walk, flying fabric, and my anxious belly, I could see her popping from tree to tree like a Mission Impossible agent! When it finally came to the moment Clayton could turn around, his reaction made it all worth it!  For a few seconds, he was frozen in his tracks and didn’t know what to do!  When he finally approached me, it was the first time in our 6 year relationship, I saw his eyes water.  The moment was so intimate, like the world was swirling around us, but all we could see was each other.”

“The country inspiration came from not only our love of country music and my husband’s upbringing, but from the fond memory of our first date camping and two-stepping under the stars to our favorite Brad Paisley CD.”

“I will also never forget being lifted in the chair for the traditional Jewish dance of the Horah.  Having fallen out of the chair at my bat-mitzvah, I was not keen on trying it again!  My husband recruited his 3 strongest friends, who actually put together a plan of attack to ensure I was comfortable!  When the moment came, our good friend Louie got his finger stuck in the chair after the lift and had to stay that way, screaming in pain, until it was time to put me down!  He said he knew if he let go and something happened to me, he would never survive!  His pain was all worth it to be able to throw my arms in the air with my new husband and celebrate our marriage!”

“My advice for future destination couples is to know who you are working with!  Take the time to travel to your destination location and meet everyone you will be working with, so you feel more comfortable and trusting when the day comes.  If it is at all possible to have local vendors travel with you, you will have fewer surprises!”

An Intimate Las Vegas Destination Wedding

vegas wedding suites

Keith and Lisa wed in an intimate ceremony in the wedding capital of the world – Las Vegas!  They wanted a place about 20 friends and family could visit, vacation, and celebrate and they did just that!  “We decided on Las Vegas as it has always been a dream of mine to have a ‘fun’ wedding with either Elvis or Captain Kirk or Spock marrying us…. neither of us are treckies so we thought Elvis would be perfect! We also wanted a destination that was open to all family and friends to attend as everyone is scattered across the states. Planning the wedding from Florida was a bit intimidating as we had to have a lot of faith, people were who they said they were and were going to be in place when they said they would….. thanks to the wonderful internet it was easy to piece everything together. He picked the hotel/reception area, we picked the ceremony destination, I got to pick the food, he picked the theme (colors) and he my shoes!!! :) It really was a group effort of Team Downing and turned out better than we could ever have imagined!”

A hotel suite at the famed Cosmopolitan Hotel was where they would celebrate on the strip.

Lisa found her unique dress on Etsy, but the meaning behind it was what sold it!  “The fun fact of my dress and what sealed the deal, was that the designer lives in Israel – which is where the dress was made. My parents, met in Israel and I too was made there. We thought it was a fun sign – we ordered the dress with out trying it on and knowing that it would be the perfect fit…. and it was! (PS – I LOVE the dress!)”

“Originally our plan was to elope and share with our family and friends post marriage, but we wanted to give all of our loved ones the option to be there. We gave everyone 2 months notice and we had 18 of our closest friends and family members there! Needless to say we were blown away with the support and attendance. We also had family in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Virginia, and as far away as England watching.”

“Keith asked his two best friends to stand up with him….. Will was his ‘Best Man’ and Nik (whom you can see is in Blue – when it was suppose to be white) Was the ‘Worst Man’…. which was really quite fitting! I asked my Sister in-law and best friend Cassie to be my ‘Matron of Honor’ and my other best friend Hannah whom has been my partner in crime for years – to be my ‘Matron of Dishonor.”

The theme of the wedding was Vegas!  They had lots of glitter to reflect the setting – like these glitter dipped glasses!

For favors the famous Las Vegas sign flanked match boxes for guests to take.

Las Vegas Destination Wedding + A Trip to the Sign Graveyard

vegas desert engagement shoot

Today’s destination wedding in Las Vegas comes to us from Meg Ruth Photo who not only captured the main event but spent some time with this darling couple out in the desert of Nevada and the famous sign graveyard for some fun photos before the “I do.”

Jennifer and Dennet’s big day included some pretty spectacular wardrobe looks, each fitting of their beautiful photo backdrops.

These imagess served several purposes, one of which included decor at the reception (wait and you’ll see…).

The reception took place at Vdara, high above the strip.  Jennifer told us about the selection process.  “We decided to have our wedding in Vegas for many different reasons but one main reason was because thats were it all began for us as a couple!  Vdara Slik road was selected because it wasn’t your typical wedding ballroom. It was a trendy, upbeat, and unique venue. The perfect place for our Vegas themed Reception.”

Meg shared a few insights into the lovely pair.  “This couple wanted to embrace the Vegas theme while keeping things classic, romantic and beautiful. Vdara was the perfect location for this combination. I was so excited to be a part of their day together.

Unfortunately Dennet’s mother became sick shortly before the wedding and was unable to make the long trip. I made sure that we took photos with Dennet’s phone while we were taking couple photos so she could feel a part of the day. Family is so important to these two. It was evident in the speeches and how much they wanted everyone included.”

Jennifer wore a stunning gown by Lazaro.

Since the wedding was in Vegas after all, a playing card theme was woven throughout the paper goods at the reception.  A fun way to include the location!

We asked the bride to share her advice with future couples.  “My advice for any bride is that planning a wedding can become A LOT overwhelming at times and its easy to lose sight of the things that matter most. So if she can just remember that, that day is just about her and her groom and not try to please everyone else that day she will be able to truly enjoy her day!”

“We really did not have any challenges along the way. The Bellagio and Angelina at the Vdara made sure that everything went smoothly. Angelina at the Vdara was a dream!! I can not say enough nice stuff about her. I highly recommend her to any future bride wanting to get married at the Vdara.”

What’s a Las Vegas wedding reception without a visit from someone special to round out the night?!?  “I wanted to keep the ceremony traditional however my husband wanted to have Elvis marry us. So this was one of our first challenges starting off as husband and wife. So what I decided to do was have a “Vegas themed” reception and have Elvis sing at it, and I kept the ceremony traditional. This way we both got what we wanted.”

Four Seasons Las Vegas Destination Wedding

four seasons las vegas wedding

Sian and Chris hosted their destination wedding at the Four Seasons Las Vegas.  A more formal destination wedding than what one might think of when we hear Las Vegas – this wedding had all the fun of the desert city of lights with the tradition of a grand “I do.”  Coming from out of the US, their friends and family got the chance to experience the iconic city and celebrate at the same time.

The bride’s look was traditional while the color palette they picked popped with cheer.

The Four Seasons Las Vegas proved to be the perfect backdrop for not only the ceremony and reception but a breathtaking first look photo op.

The couple picked this property because of its beauty – the fountain that set the scene for the ceremony and a with an intimate guest count, they needed a ballroom that fit just that.

The red and white ceremony was selected since red roses are among the bride’s very favorite things (and her mom’s too).

After the sweet ceremony, the Las Vegas wedding details came out for the reception – like this Vegas sign ice sculpture!

When we asked the couple about their favorite moment of the day, they couldn’t choose – every moment was as magical as the last!
