Best Place to Bachelor/Bachelorette in Los Angeles

wedding locations westwood

Summer is right around the corner, which means here in Southern California, it’s bachelor and bachelorette party time!  If you’re planning your bachelorette weekend or getaway bachelor party, then look no further than sunny So Cal and the bright lights of Los Angeles!  The trend to getaway for a bachelorette party is taking the country by storm – no longer do guys and gal pals go out for just one night, they get in the car or hop on a plane for a quick ride to somewhere special for a few fabulous days with friends.  And Hollywood is one happening place to do just that!  If you want a spot that marries (pun intended) hip nightlife with sun tanning and spa, then check out the newly redone W Los Angeles – West Beverly Hills.

This posh property has everything a weekend away with friends could need – a popular pool and poolside restaurant for cabana living and dare we say, a little day drinking; live local music certain times of the month in the swanky lobby lounge known as the Living Room Bar, a celeb-favorite steakhouse, STK (complete with it’s own DJ and entertainment), and even a Bliss Spa on property to help you recover from all the fun you had the night before!

If you’re organizing a little soiree during the weekend or you’ve got a good size group, consider staying in the E Wow Suite, a lavish party palace complete with a tufted wall-clad screening room, floating bed, and bar in the living room.   It’s got good times written all over it!

With a recent renovation, all the rooms are inviting, modern, and made for fun, regardless of the suite or size room you select.

But even with a room as wow as the E Wow Suite, you won’t want to spend too much time tucked away with a happening lobby and lounge scene like this.  Head downstairs to celebrate in style and don’t forget to dine and indulge at STK when you do!  Just ask the W Insider for help, they’re goal is to provide you Whatever / Whenever you want it and make your bachelorette weekend a breeze to plan!

Perfect Table Design for A Beach Wedding

malibu weddings

Today’s event isn’t a full wedding, but a close up look at what an amazing destination wedding reception table could be.  This party, produced and designed by the talented team at BROWNHOT Events took place in Malibu, CA overlooking the perfect Pacific Ocean.

We asked Jeff Brown of BROWNHOT Events to share with us the inspiration behind this beach wedding table inspiration.  “The client wanted a “simple” chic summer dinner table that would emulate the seaside beach property in Malibu.”  So he brought the sea to the seaside dinner!

“We brought “under the sea” atop the table – using elements that emulated creatures and objects and visuals found underwater – coral, pincushion protea as anemones, succulents as kelp/seaweed, and crisp white linen for the sandy underbottom.”

“Our salmon and mango palette paid homage to the great iconic Malibu sunset colors.”

“It was a big hit with the lucky guests.  The environment evoked luxe indulgence, in extreme comfort.”

We asked Jeff to share some of his insider expertise with those of you planning a beach wedding.  Here’s his great advice!  “Most definitely visit the site at nighttime – temperatures drop, lighting shifts, and the moist dew sets in – everywhere.  Plan accordingly.  Dance floors become slick, food can turn wilted, and guests can become chilly – even on the hottest summer night.  Choose a menu that holds up easily, and slip lightweight throws on chairbacks for added warmth.”

Christmas on the Beach Engagement Shoot

jessica claire engagement shootIn the spirit of the holidays we couldn’t help but fall in love with this inspiration shoot captured by our talented friend Jessica Claire. This soon-to-be-wed couple got snuggled up in the cool California air on the beaches of Laguna to capture what would turn into a fantastic Christmas card (or so we hope) and a magical engagement shoot.

Designer and planner, Lindye Galloway wanted to create an elopement setting befitting of a California Christmas – mission accomplished!  “The ceremony had a simple elegance with a custom chandelier made out of ornaments suspended above the couple, embracing the ever-popular ombre style.”holiday engagement shootsFrom ceremony to “reception” and even a snuggle station in a cave, no detail was left undone.  How they managed to get a Christmas tree onto the beach without incident is pure holiday magic!  I wonder if they surprised each other with real gifts under that tree?christmas weddingsWhat a great time it must have been to produce a shoot so festive!  Especially knowing the bride and groom are getting married next year and what a gift this will end up becoming for them!

But back to the decor – when frolicking in the sand when finished, the duo settled down at a dinner table built for two!winter wedding ideasFor dessert, the couple delighted in a two tiered ruffle cake and two jumbo cupcakes tying in the theme of what winter in California is really like. Oh what fun!christmas engagement photosPhoto Shoot Credits: Location: Private Beach, Newport Beach, CA, Photographer: Jessica Claire, Designer & Planner: Lindye Galloway Events, Flowers: Honey and Poppies, Rentals: This & That Vintage Rentals, Hair/Makeup: A Lovely Bride, Invitations: Copper Willow, Cake/Cupcakes: Design Cakes and Cupcakes, Model’s Attire: H&M and Zara

Pelican Hill, Newport Beach Wedding – Devan & Spencer

destination wedding newport beachDevan and Spencer wed on July 23, 2011 at the sprawling Newport Beach resort, Pelican Hill.  The couple resides in Austin, Texas, but the bride had her eye on Southern California from the start.  “One evening we had dinner at Andrea at Pelican Hill and I fell in love with the resort.  From that point on, I knew that having our wedding there would be a dream wedding. It was difficult to persuade Spencer and my dad to agree.  They both thought that we wouldn’t have more than 50 people attend, given that all of our guests would be coming from Texas.  So, we had already almost entirely planned our wedding to be in Austin until fate intervened in April.  I was having lunch at Pelican Hill and I had not given up hope, so asked to meet with the wedding coordinator. Pelican Hill would typically be booked at this late date, so I was shocked to hear that someone had just canceled their wedding on July 23rd and it was available!  …It turns out that 128 of our closest friends and family came and it could not have been better!”

The sunset peach and white ceremony was abundant with roses, ivy, and orchids…and of course, a lot of love.  Devan and Spencer are huge dog lovers, they travel everywhere with their two Scotties, and so the wedding was no different.  “It was so special that we were able to incorporate them into our day by having them walk down the aisle as the two little ring bearers.”destination wedding pelican hillThe couple enlisted famed Todd Events to produce the grand celebration.  And thus, no detail was overlooked.  From releasing doves during the ceremony to photos of the couple framed on an entry way table outside the ballroom, this spectacular wedding was personal and special at every turn.newport beach weddingsThe bride and groom dined at a head table with their bridal party while a beautiful floral chandelier to match the table decor hung overhead.  And celeb wedding photographer Robert Evans captured the day’s details, live band and all.peach and white weddingsBehind the feasting table was the magnificent five tier wedding cake, of course, in the coordinating color palette of peach and white.  Talk about a sweet tooth!peach and white wedding flowersAnd for the grand finale, the couple jetted off in their “Just Married” adorned wheels after being showered with love and petals from friends and family.  From Texas to California, this destination wedding proves barefoot on the beach is no pre-req for a fantastic evening of “I do’s.”weddings in newport beachCongratulations Devan & Spencer and thank you for sharing your wonderful wedding memories with us!
