Oregon Wedding Inspiration

Avoid the rain while you can in the jaw-dropping locations of Oregon for your destination wedding. There are spectacular views for your ceremony, consider having your ceremony in the woodland areas that have a gorgeous background of Mt. Hood or any other beautiful terrain in the sunshine. Walk down the aisle with flowers that pop in color and stand out among all of the greenery. Consider some creative ways to incorporate logs such as your  bridesmaid’s flower holders or inserting candles into the logs to decorate your reception tables. Have your guest get cozy on some couches for your ceremony, cocktail hour or reception! Dress up your bridal party in soft tones while the groomsman rock the brown leather shoes with some trendy socks. Add one-of-a-kind touches to your wedding day by having your guests write to you on postcards instead of the traditional guest book. The pacific northwest is a top-notch destination for a summer wedding in the sun.

If you’re looking for a beautiful destination wedding venue in Southern California that’s kid-friendly, oodles of fun with plenty of event location options, then look no further than to Palm Desert at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa.  We had the recent pleasure of checking out the property firsthand and oh what fun!  The resort has over 465 rooms and suites to service your large (or small) party and several spectacular sites for your ceremony and reception (like this lawn overlooking a pond and the golf course).

Or perhaps perch your party atop the roof for a view of the mountains and the resort below as you dance under the stars and celebrate in total privacy!

The resort is just 20 minutes from the airport and about 20 minutes from the town of Palm Springs – for those of your guests who want to get out and explore the city, nightlife and shopping.  Of course, it’s not far from amazing shopping in Palm Desert too with great restaurants like the Tommy Bahama Restaurant to host your rehearsal dinner or post-wedding brunch if you want to get off property.

But there’s really no reason to leave!  The Omni Rancho Las Palmas has a lovely spa with a variety of amenities and services to treat you and your bridal party before and on your big day (we recommend spending the afternoon lounging at the spa pool for a little more R&R and privacy away from the other guests).

There’s also the entertaining Splashtopia waterpark on property for the kids and kids in all of you who want to float down a lazy river or splash on a few slides in the sun.  If your group has children, ask for rooms near this part of the resort.  For adults only, opt to be closer to the spa and lobby areas (which have great curb appeal and outdoor fire pits to enjoy at night with a glass of wine as you reflect on your wedding weekend).

Needless to say, the resort really has it all for a destination wedding group.  But it’s actually the team behind it all that gives this place that something extra.  Pam Olson, the resort’s Catering Sales Manager is your go-to gal for all things wedding at the resort and we promise you’ll fall in love with her too as she dedicates herself wholeheartedly to making your big day the best it can be.  You get the sense that the entire staff lives like this – with open arms, warmth, kindness and dedication to your event so no detail is left undone and no guest leaves without feeling like they’re leaving home.

Ranch Destination Wedding in Durango, Colorado

durango destination wedding

Erin and Tom were a perfect match right from the start. The day after a mutual friend introduced them, this blushing bride told her mom, “If I don’t marry Tom Sawyer, I’m going to marry someone just like him.” The rest was history! The couple eventually opted for a destination wedding in Colorado at Blue Lake Ranch and Erin shared the details with us. “As a little girl, mom and I bought flowers from the Ranch and she talked about having my wedding there. When I got engaged I wanted a venue in an exotic location and we looked all over the world. After 9 months, my mom reminded me of the Ranch and it was exactly what we were looking for all along.”

The bridesmaids wore an eclectic mix of blues and purple bridesmaid dresses all their own.  Beautiful!

At a destination wedding, not everything goes according to plan, especially with the weather. But this mishap made for a special memory! “Rain poured on our outdoor ceremony and we all took cover in a nearby barn. As I hid in the back, everyone gathered on the porch and we had our ceremony surrounded by our loved ones in a thundering rainstorm. It was so beautiful and exciting. Our guests still talk about how special it was.”

“Our officiant is a close friend so our ceremony felt deeply personal.”

Erin and Tom used the natural surroundings to help set the tone for their décor. “We were inspired by our magnificent setting! With the Rockies behind and a green, flowering meadow in front, we let the Ranch guide the style and feel of our celebration. We love modern design so we added some contemporary details, such as metallic linens and a modern dinner, other than that we let the venue shine.”

“The extraordinary people in our lives made our wedding feel like one giant special touch. My mom planted a wedding garden and all our flowers came from that special garden and my sister-in-law created our beautiful arrangements.”

We asked the newlyweds what advice they have for future brides and grooms. “Be kind to your mom. During the planning our moms are easy targets for our frustrations and stress. Try to remember that she’s excited too, this is her big day too. Don’t make the mistake of being a jerk to your mom, ever- but really watch yourself during the planning.” Great advice!

Modern Beach Wedding Ideas at the Pacific Edge Hotel

We’re back with more beach wedding inspiration from a recent event at the Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach, CA.  Today we’re taking a look at what an indoor beachfront wedding could look like if you want to bring the ocean inside for a little event inspiration.

This shabby chic yet oh-so modern white table by The Tangled Vine makes for not only a great reception table but post-wedding brunch look too.  The casual and relaxed vibe works well for just about any of the events surrounding your destination I do!

Table runners and minimalistic yet natural napkin treatments go a long way in creating decor that feels fresh and finished.

If you’re on the hunt for more of an evening look, consider darker linens and even pops of metallic like what these gold vases bring into the space.

But these centerpieces didn’t stop at the base of the vase – they even peppered live product throughout the tables!

Laguna Beach Wedding Ideas at the Pacific Edge Hotel

laguna beach wedding locations

Looking for some great summer wedding inspiration?  We are obsessed with today’s event – an industry event actually, not a real wedding but a real party!  Hosted by the relaxed yet chic Laguna Beach property, the Pacific Edge Hotel, today’s beach wedding ideas come from the locals down south who know how to produce a swanky oceanside I do in Southern California!

A creative idea for your family photos – a wall and shadowbox of photos of your parents, your courtship, or perhaps those you’ve lost along the way and couldn’t celebrate with you on your big day.

When you get married overlooking the ocean, consider low or small ceremony decor to avoid taking away from the beautiful setting behind you.

And of course match your cocktails to your color palette!

For this dinner reception, one long table was set with a striped pattern linen and bold florals to really scream what a celebration this was!

And of course the food at the Pacific Edge Hotel is delish – and summertime perfect for a destination wedding in Southern California.
