Pastel Key West Dockside Destination Wedding

Ruth and Ronald celebrated their destination wedding on a dock in Key West, where they peppered the party with beautiful pastel mint colors and oodles of shells and starfish!  The couple’s photographer, Mike B shared their big day story with us.  “After meeting in Ocean City, it could only be fate that brought both Ruth and Ronald to Miami one year later. Although they didn’t talk much over that first year, Ronald had an idea that she was something special, so he took it upon himself to invite her and her friend out while in Miami – and the rest was history! At least, until one Christmas Eve, when Ronald got down on one knee in front of both of their families and close friends…”

“From there, the couple decided to take their wedding on the road and get hitched amidst the sandy shores and palm trees of beautiful Key West. Ruth and Ronald’s wedding locale provided direction to their overall wedding inspiration and they decided to follow a casual, yet chic vibe. Beach-y elements accented their big day, from lush mint details to handmade starfish escort cards.”

“Initially, the pair planned to be traditional and opt out of the ‘first look’ that has become popular among couples. However, as their photographer suggested it, they changed their mind and are entirely grateful that they did. “Not only did it give us one-on-one personal time before the wedding,” share the couple, who cited the first look as one of the favorite memories of the day. “We were able to calm our nerves and capture some amazing photos together – just the two of us.”

“Planning a destination wedding isn’t always easy, but Ruth and Ronald ensure that it is completely worth it. “Take on one task at a time and use a schedule to plan everything,” they encourage. “It can get overwhelming at times, but when it does, take a moment to remember the purpose of the day – celebrating your love for one another!” She also adds to enjoy every moment – “it will go by so quickly!”

Key West, Florida Destination Wedding

key west wedding location

Jen and Kyle hosted a domestic destination wedding in Key West, Florida. They picked this location because of its special meaning to them.  Jen shared with us, “Our first vacation together in June 2010 was to Key West and it has been our favorite place ever since. We knew right away we would want to have our wedding there and we were so touched by how many of our family and friends made the trip to celebrate with us.”

Jen wore orchids in her hair and carried a delicate white bridal bouquet.  “My something old, borrowed and blue was my great grandmother’s diamond & saphire bracelet.”

Each sweet detail infused the nautical theme of this event, right down to the jewelry noting their wedding date!

Pillow accents made for great pops of the theme throughout the event while Kyle’s tie and suit matched the palette perfectly.

The inspiration for this event wasn’t just the sea that surrounded them but the colors too.  “I just wanted everything to be navy & white, very crisp! Everything was nautical inspired so the knots, navy & white color scheme, stripes, lanterns and pillows in the lounge area had a nautical feel.”

They selected Ocean Key Resort for their ceremony and their Sunset Pier Restaurant for the reception.  The beautiful outdoor ceremony was a match made in heaven as a catamaran passed by in time for photos.

After the “I do’s” the couple took some time to stroll about in Key West.

To prep for the reception details, Jen spent some time shopping on Etsy before the big day.  “The knots and table numbers were from different etsy designers. I also found our sign in “book” from etsy as well.”

We adore these details!!  Sailboat escort cards, lantern table decor, and a completely creative fish inspired guest “book” or framed poster as it was.   Such a fun way to kick off the reception!

Then as guests got seated, they noticed the “knots” holding up the perfectly paired table numbers.

Matching striped linens and crisp white chairs finished off this fabulous look!

Destination Wedding in Key West, FL

key west destination weddingHoliday weekends are often the ideal choice for destination weddings. Guests already have time off, and you have double the reason to celebrate! Mika and Mike invited their friends and family to do just that when they wed over July 4th weekend in the always entertaining location of Key West, Florida. With a jam-packed weekend of bachelor and bachelorette parties, rehearsal dinner, Fourth of July festivities and of course a wedding, there was never a dull moment to be had and Mimi Teller Photography captured it all!Florida Beach WeddingsDid this couple not get the most beautiful day for the oceanfront ceremony? With a location like Key West’s beach, you don’t need much decor to make it wow-worthy, so they stuck to a simple white palette with festive torches lining the aisle. And, how adorable are those flower girls with their pails-turned-flower-girl-baskets?Florida Beach Destination Wedding CeremonyMika and Mike chose Key West’s The Southernmost Beach Resort to take full advantage of their Floridian destination and those ocean views. From Mika, “We entertained several venues in Key West, but we chose Southernmost Resort because it fit us the best.  It was beautiful, fun, laidback, and right on the water.” Post-nuptials they strolled the dock for some stunning waterfront portraits.florida destination weddingsGuests didn’t have to go far for the reception’s festivities, as a tent was set up and dance floor laid out right there on the sand. We love when couples embrace their surrounds and keep the decor simple as to not distract from it, just as Mika and Mike did. Guests danced the night away as the sun set and cooled down with cute customized water bottles, a great idea for a wedding in the Florida heat!destination wedding receptionTo ring in the Fourth of July, what better a getaway then one with sparklers? Luckily the festivities didn’t end there as the couple treated their guests to a day-after July 4th fireworks cruise to end the celebratory weekend!beach wedding reception
