Destination Wedding Welcome Bag Ideas from Engage!17

If you’re wondering what to get your guests when they arrive at your destination wedding or how to say thanks with a thoughtful and creative wedding favor, then this story is for you! We’re sharing more destination wedding ideas from our recent stay at Engage!17: Nizuc where they gifted us with the most amazing and super creative destination wedding goodies.

It’s customary to give guests at a destination wedding some sort of welcome amenity, in the form of a gift bag, a special treat or even just a personal note thanking them for their travel and time. But if you want to go a little bit bigger than that, the sky is the limit! You can theme your gifts to the location, the activities they plan to partake in and of course the wedding day palette or motif too. For the Engage event in Cancun, Gifts for the Good Life created the swag we received and presented it in a shopping format so each guest got exactly what we wanted as we filled our welcome bags. How fun for the entire family!

During the “shopping” experience there was even a mezcal tasting to get the party started. Anything that reflects the destination is an ideal way to welcome your loved ones.

The goodies we got were functional and fashionable – everything from a wrap to keep warm in the evening and sun protects to enjoy on the beach.

The actual welcome bag itself was even sourced to reflect the setting of Mexico! The hangover kits we received matched the theme of the party the evening before and all the items were branded with the logo of the event and elements that showcased the best of Cancun.

You certainly don’t have to give as many gifts as we were lucky enough to enjoy; even a small token of appreciate goes a long way. But consider the culture, the destination, and even your wedding palette to show your guests you went that extra mile to make their experience as incredible as possible. They’ll thank you for the thank you!

Riviera Maya Honeymoon Activities: Visit the Cenotes

what-to-do-in-riviera-maya

If you’re headed to Riviera Maya, Mexico for your destination wedding or honeymoon, you’ll have plenty to do once you arrive.  On a recent visit to the fabulous Rosewood Mayakoba, we got the chance to experience some of the unique activities the area has to offer – like swimming in the cenotes!  That’s right, a bucket list item for me for sure, we got to swim in the beautiful underground caves known as cenotes.  There are approx 7000 of them in the region and they truly take your breath away.  You climb under the earth and when you reach your destination, you’re in a natural pool, surrounded by crystals that form and make the water incredibly refreshing (and good for your skin too!).

If you were ever in the market for a GoPro, now is the time to get one.  It’s hard to describe how magical it is in the chilly water as you put mud on your skin and get that natural glow, like you’re in a spa but better!

The caves are part of the Mayan culture in the area and your guide will teach you a bit about their history during the hour long excursion.

We traveled by swanky SUV thanks to Rosewood Mayakoba and were greeted by warm towels and cold water once we emerged.  If your family and friends are up for a little adventure (and not too claustrophobic) then be sure to plan an outing under the ground and a visit to one of the many cenote spots in Riviera Maya during your destination wedding weekend.  You won’t forget or regret it!

Protect Your Guests at Your Outdoor Weddings

It’s summer season and that means oodles of outdoor weddings are taking place.  But all that nature, sun, and clean air can also bring bugs, sunburns, and other elements.  So be prepared and offer your guests sunscreen and bug spray with a twist, a wedding twist that is!  With all the talk about Zika, it’s better to be safe than sorry, even on your big day and especially at a destination I do.
