Riviera Maya Honeymoon Activities: Visit the Cenotes

what-to-do-in-riviera-maya

If you’re headed to Riviera Maya, Mexico for your destination wedding or honeymoon, you’ll have plenty to do once you arrive.  On a recent visit to the fabulous Rosewood Mayakoba, we got the chance to experience some of the unique activities the area has to offer – like swimming in the cenotes!  That’s right, a bucket list item for me for sure, we got to swim in the beautiful underground caves known as cenotes.  There are approx 7000 of them in the region and they truly take your breath away.  You climb under the earth and when you reach your destination, you’re in a natural pool, surrounded by crystals that form and make the water incredibly refreshing (and good for your skin too!).

If you were ever in the market for a GoPro, now is the time to get one.  It’s hard to describe how magical it is in the chilly water as you put mud on your skin and get that natural glow, like you’re in a spa but better!

The caves are part of the Mayan culture in the area and your guide will teach you a bit about their history during the hour long excursion.

We traveled by swanky SUV thanks to Rosewood Mayakoba and were greeted by warm towels and cold water once we emerged.  If your family and friends are up for a little adventure (and not too claustrophobic) then be sure to plan an outing under the ground and a visit to one of the many cenote spots in Riviera Maya during your destination wedding weekend.  You won’t forget or regret it!

Guest Ideas – Scented Towels

Destination weddings are great opportunities to surprise your guests with little welcoming details to make their experience extraordinary.  Enter the scented hand towel.  When guests walk up to the ceremony, dig through their swanky swag bag (aka welcome bag), give them something sweet-smelling and refreshing to towel off with.  Scented Towels are the newest and easiest way to get a quick clean up while you are running around!  Alcohol-free, biodegradable and lemon oil infused, Scented Towels come in many succulent scents like lemon, lavender, peach-mango and unscented for those of you who prefer the plain Jane.   And each is designed in a packet color coordinating with it’s flavor, so you can match your sets right now to your wedding flowers.

How convenient would it be to have a Scented Towel tucked away in your clutch after stuffing cake in your hubby’s face? Easy access packaging, along with the ability to be heated or cooled creates a very user-friendly product that guests will love. Having your wedding on the beach on a hot day? Distribute them to your guests for a great way to cool off. Partying hard on the dance floor? Scented Towels is a quick and easy way to clean off and ensure that your guests have a comfortable experience.  It’s the little things that leave a lasting impression!

French Lace Inspired Weddings

Oh La La, planning a wedding in France? What better way to honor this beautiful and influentially fashionable country than by incorporating French Lace into your designs?!

Spreading from fashion and accessories to décor and interior design, French lace has been a very prominent fabric used in the Parisian lifestyle (and wedding dresses worldwide). Solstiss (the makers of Princess Kate’s bridal lace) really knew what they were doing when they fabricated this textile. Stopping in a café for a croissant or a macaroon? You will most likely see a French lace tablecloth or maybe some beautifully designed curtains. This ornate, yet delicate fabric is the perfect trademark for such a beautiful culture – and your wedding day too! You can incorporate this lovely detail into your wedding in many ways – lace décor pieces add the perfect contrast to a black and white photo or a crystal chandelier. You could even match a lovely pair of intricate heels to add that perfect touch to your lace gown.

Want to feel like a real Parisian? French lace could be your way. Wow your guests with creative use of the lace in non-expected places and add texture and layers not only to your look, but your ceremony and reception too!
