Getting Married in Venice, Italy

venice engage 17

As we wrap up our coverage of our week in Italy at the amazing Engage!17: Italy event, we thought we’d share a little swag to send you into your weekend. Each time Engage takes place, guests are greeted and gifted with goodies beyond any simple wedding favor (these gifts require extra luggage home!). And our trip to Venice was no different. Gifts for the Good Life concepts the swag bags in theme with the destination, just like a destination wedding welcome bag would be, and so our treats were not only Italy inspired but delicious, fashionable and of course, fabulous. Take a look at some wonderful wedding favor and welcome bag inspiration from our trip to Engage Italy!

A Spectacular Wedding Celebration in Italy by Engage!17

Italy wedding locationbelmond venice

We’ve been to some pretty epic wedding and events before, but few are as memorable as the one we’re sharing with you today. Late last year, we had the honor of attending the Engage!17: Italy event for wedding professionals around the world who came together in Venice. On the final night of the summit, the best of the best of the Italian wedding industry produced a party that was completely awe-inspiring, jaw-dropping, and totally to-die-for. This formal gala is bursting with brilliant wedding ideas for a grand evening in Italy or anywhere in the world but this party took place at the famous Belmond Hotel Cipriani. The stunning property housed the lavish cocktail hour indoors in what felt like an old wine cave (but grand in size) before guests moved to the lawn for a tented dinner that was encased in anything but an ordinary wedding tent.

Entertainers and artists kept us mesmerized during cocktails with mini shows going on throughout the event space.

After cocktails were complete, guests were ushered to the garden where a long floral-flanked hallway lead to a tent that was more like a glass greenhouse than party pavilion.

Once we arrived inside, we were met by the most colorful decor imaginable! Each table was its own color palette, each covered by a giant matching lampshade.  Once everyone entered, the shades rose up high above the tables and revealed beautiful candlelit floral centerpieces and dinner settings below. I’ve never seen anything like it! The centerpieces rose to the ceiling in time for dinner!  The creative mind of VINCENZO DASCANIO is among the most talented in our industry and he not only designed this but he designs destination weddings too!

We like to suggest that event spaces be designed from floor to ceiling, keeping in mind all areas the eye travels to but this gala takes that idea to an entirely new level. No inch was left uncovered, no detail spared, and no element anything less than unforgettable.

This truly magical night was a highlight for everyone at Engage!17: Italy and I’m sure you can see why! But it wasn’t just about the decor…

The entertainment was spectacular once again. It seemed as though each song brought with it a new group of performers and singers, all in costumes as grand as the decor around the room. And the talent was equally as inspiring. Nu Art Events really does it like no other!

This night went well into the morning with musicians like these to keep the energy going. I will never forget this party – it was that good. I hope it inspires you and your destination dreams as much as it has for me!

italy wedding ideasitaly wedding idea

Over the next three days we’re going to be sharing with you some of our favorite Italy destination wedding inspiration from our visit late last year to Venice for the incredible Engage!17: Italy event that took place. The summit is actually designed for wedding professionals not couples but it’s full of fab ideas for you! It’s three days of inspiration, education, and pretty unforgettable parties to give our industry insight into what is available in the world of weddings for you – brides and grooms! We engage, we learn, we dance, and we get to dream up new parties as magical as this. So if you’re considering a wedding in Venice, or a formal destination “I do” anywhere in the world really, take a look at this red-inspired fete befitting of Italian royalty.

Guests were greeted in the lobby of Palazzo Pisani Moretta with a performance where violin-wielding brides dazzled us with song and then sent us on our way up the stairs to the main event.  What a way to start a party!

Once upstairs in the ‘main event,’ we found art installations made of dramatic red florals and feathers and artists posing and moving about the room as part of the decor.  The entertainment for this event, and all the parties at Engage!17: Italy was produced by the super talented Gabriele Rizzi & Nu Art Events and they blew me away! I’ve seen a lot of creative and talented wedding bands and musicians in my 15 years in the industry, but none more spectacular this these. Wow! A must if you’re getting married in Europe.

The party was completely fanciful, with women dressed as lamps delivering dessert and a gondolier station as part of the decor. Stunning!

Fairy Tale Inspired Venice, Italy Engagement Shoot

Christiane and Erich opted for a very special engagement session – in Italy! This darling couple traveled to Venice for a fabulous, fairy tale-inspired photo shoot with the talented team at Ladies & Lord Fine Photography, and what became of their day out in Italy is nothing short of fairy tale magic in photos.

We asked Claudia Magas of Ladies & Lord to share a bit about the ideas behind their shoot.

Christiane & Erich are avid Italy fans. Every year they come for a vacation to the Northern coast and of course to Venice, which has a special place in their hearts.

I met the couple on a wedding fair and we really hit it off. They told me about their wedding plans and how they wanted something different. Something bold and extraordinary. Well, THAT is exactly my cup of tea I told them ;))

Christiane once mentioned the carnival and fairy tales and so my imagination ran wild and I immediately thought of a dramatic look in a red cape. I just had the vision of an empty Venice (I know, I am disillusioned haha) and her roaming the streets in it.  (We captured this vision in the short film we made.)

In order to be dramatic one must choose bold colours so we went for marsala and gold. The décor from the pompous cake to the many shades of red, burgundy and marsala was a drastic change to all the pastel, blush, peach and ivory palettes that are in right now.

I travelled with my team to Venice one day before the shoot. We met the couple at the romantic Settimo Cielo Hotel in the San Marco district of town. Christiane & Erich chose it for the glamorous décor and rich colours and posh furniture. It matched our storyboard to perfection. We started with filming a few sequences in the evening trying to get a few alleyways and canals without people. I also love shooting a test run before the big day just to get the couple relaxed. Usually people are not used to being in front of the camera and a short test run makes them more comfortable. We really got it going the next day when we got up in the wee morning hours to start with hair and makeup. Venice is quite quiet in the morning so we used this time to roam the partly empty streets, wander around the alleys. All in all it was magical.

destination-wedding-venice italy-weddings  venice-italy-wedding venice-weddings masquerade-wedding red-floral-wedding

People always ask about a highlight but you are in Venice – La Serenissima – it is the atmosphere around you that is the highlight. I can’t wait to come back here soon.

How will their big day top this day? Well, it’s taking place in Austria to start and we’re sure they have some more magic up their sleeves to share.

To see more of this amazing love story, watch the video here.

The short film is part of the invitation. Guests will receive the invite and a link to the film. Neat, right?

Congratulations to Christiane & Erich!

Romantic Wedding in Venice, Italy

Monse and Victor said I do in one of the most romantic places in the world – Venice, Italy! Their European destination wedding was one filled with beautiful places and moments between the two. Their wedding planner, Amber Mollison of Angel Lion Weddings & Events, shared a little bit about their big day with us.

Monse and Victor are a lovely Mexican couple that traveled with close friends and family to celebrate their union at ai Gesuiti church, one of the most and ornate churches in Venice.

Following the service the couple wandered the dark streets of Venice while the photographer captured them under the street lights and the full moon.

The reception was held at Ca Sagredo, an historic palace on the Grand Canal. The couple dined under the famous painting of the lovers.
