Montego Bay, Jamaica Destination Wedding

day after wedding shoot

Danice and James landed on Jamaica for their destination wedding at the Grand Palladium, where close friends and family gathered for a great party and an intimate wedding ceremony.  The pair found the location simply from searching online!  They wanted a space for the ceremony that was colorful but culturally neutral since she’s Filipino and he’s Puerto Rican and they weren’t hosting a wedding in either place.

The brightly colored tropical vibe of the wedding lend itself perfectly to the feeling of fun they wanted to have!

Wedding photographer Olivia Vale described the day and experience for us.  “Close family and a laid-back sense of fun are the most important thing to both Danice and James. They wanted the beautiful breeziness of a tropical wedding, and just wanted the closest people in their lives to be there. They had about 40 guests who flew in to celebrate with them.  The morning began with getting ready in the gorgeous Grecian villas, followed by a pavilion ceremony surrounded by water and a sculpture garden, and ended with a reception on the sweeping veranda overlooking both ocean and infinity pool. The main theme was fun, and there was plenty of it; but also some very tender moments too.”

Guests were given fans at the ceremony to keep cool and as a keepsake from the wedding.

Bellefield Great House, Montego Bay, Jamaica Wedding Inspiration

jamaica wedding locations

Today’s inspiration shoot comes to us all the way from Montego Bay, Jamaica at the historic Bellefield Great House.  The mastermind behind the shoot was stylist Pierre Carr, who shared with us a bit about the idea and inspiration.  “I was inspired by the Twilight wedding and the relaxed outdoor feel it portrayed and as many of the islands in the Caribbean have lush greenery but little is seen of them as a wedding option I wanted the photo shoot to be a great opportunity to showcase this.”

This isn’t your everyday beach wedding shoot, Pierre wanted to show a different side of Jamaica.

“As I wanted to step away from the beach I was looking for two things: I wanted an island with a varied landscape and I wanted to show off the history of the island and feature a grand plantation house. If I could find these two things then I felt I would get all the elements of the rustic theme I was looking for, for the shoot.

Jamaica came top of this list, as it not only has majestic mountains and cascading waterfalls but an abundance of fertile plains, which really shows of its natural beauty.”

Pierre’s team captured the softer side of a rustic wedding while photographer Mark Anthony Chen had some fun with the horse posing as another model.  “The horse was borrowed from the local stables near by. The model was actually scared of animals. But you don’t notice it do you?”

The house has such history, it became the perfect backdrop for the special shoot.  “Bellefield Great House and Estate, built in 1794, is one of the oldest sugar plantations in Jamaica and surrounded by every possible rustic element you could imagine including the lush greenery it was the perfect fit for this rustic shoot.”

Grande Garden created this magical oasis of baby’s breath for a ceremony under a canopy of flowers.

“All the outdoor settings were a natural part of the estate – so we worked with the surrounding as all of the rustic elements were there.”

“The gypsophila flowers were perfect to give a relaxed but dramatically pretty feel.”

The fashion and styling was also fitting of the era they wanted to share.  “The simple pearl jewelery and the Charlotte Casadejus Audrey dress with its flattering, flowy, silk georgette material and antique beading really illustrated a bygone era and fitted the theme beautifully.”

“The Great House is so well maintained it still has all of the original items such as the drinking tankards, ceremonial benches, candelabras and glass vases we were able to use which dates back to the 1700’s.”

“The textured cake – the branches and foliage was made by the cake designer which is a real alternative to just using foliage and shows that all things are possible if you find the right talent.”

Rose Hall, Jamaica Destination Wedding

jamaica wedding locations

Lindsey and Francesco selected an old favorite for their destination wedding – Montego Bay, Jamaica.  But not just any spot would do, they opted to wed at the historic Rose Hall Great House, a stunning property with rich history (built in 1770).  Lindsey tells us how they found such a spot.  “The first time we traveled to Jamaica, we saw an advertisement for the Rose Hall Great House in the Mobay Airport.  While we were waiting for our transport, we inquired about it and learned that it was a “haunted” and beautiful home used for functions and a museum.  We though, we should check it out while we’re here.  We weren’t even engaged yet, not even talking about marriage!”

Lindsey wore a beautiful Monique Lhuillier wedding dress while Francesco donned a dapper custom tux.

Once the location was secured, the tone for the event was set.  “The theme of the entire event was simply whimsical.  We wanted it to feel like the perfect mix of party and reprieve, and we wanted people to see the sky, feel the air, and sink right into the feeling with us.”

We asked Georgia Watson, the couple’s destination wedding planner about the event.  “Lindsey’s style was sophisticated, fun, simple yet spunky, with clean and {happy} details. Silver, Plum, Peacock blue, Turquoise, were all hues that we played with.”

What a beautiful ceremony site!!  And with a local children’s choir to serenade the couple – how perfect!

Georgia filled us in on working on island.  “We arranged for many of the details to be supplied by the Jamaican vendors.  The business owners and vendors that were secured in Jamaica were wonderful people, big hearts, proud of their work, and willing to please.  But yet, I came packed. I brought with me: the linens, the stationary, the rocks for the placecards (which we soon learned I could have gotten them from the beach), the ceremony items, led lights, programs, the brooch bouquet, and of course my SOS kit.”

For the cocktail hour, tropical and of course, color coordinated drinks were served to kick off the festivities!

Then the blue hue was carried into the reception with table runners and even sea glass and shells around the escort cards.

This historic house then went from day to night for the reception.

“Lindsey and Frank are simply gifted with having a family like they do. The group danced and partied to the very last possible minute….a true tribute to how much this couple was loved and supported.”

Destination Wedding in Jamaica

montego bay weddingsShelby and Brian wed on Oct. 17th in Montego Bay, Jamaica.  The couple selected The Grand Palladium Resort to touch down with friends and family for the big day and a weekend of fabulous festivities.

The bride wore a beautiful vintage inspired dress by BHLDN while the rest of the bridal party coordinated flawlessly.  The flower girls wore custom handmade dresses and carrying handmade baskets while the bridesmaids also wore custom dresses.  Shelby spent much of her pre-wedding time shopping for gems like these on Etsy.destination wedding JamaicaPhotographer Marta Locklear took time the day of and day after to capture some really beautiful photos of the bride and groom.  What style and what surroundings!wedding photographers in JamaicaI Love this photo!  It embodies what a destination wedding should feel like – love, relaxation, and taking time to enjoy your amazing surroundings!destination wedding photosThe couple chose chartreuse green and chocolate brown as their wedding colors with touches of brown and taupe through the use of burlap accents.  Filled with beautiful orchids and a contrast of wooden elements, this wedding was idyllic Jamaican event.weddings in JamaicaIn may have rained a tad on the big day, but that’s good luck, you know!  So the group made a split second decision and relocated the ceremony under cover and it looked as though it had been planned that way from day one.jamaica wedding venuesThe guest book was a creative map of Jamaica custom made for the event.  On the table to accompany it were moss covered initials of the bride and groom making it just that much more map guest bookThe guests and bride and groom dined on one long feasting table, keeping the intimate wedding feeling a bit more like home; while hand painted rocks served as place cards for each in attendance.jamaica weddingswedding initials in flowersAt the end of this magical night, the newlyweds and their guests opted for a ceremony a bit different from fireworks.  The family went out to the cliffs overlooking the ocean and lit and let fly Chinese Wish Lanterns.  What a fantastic idea and great way to end the day!  We hope all their wishes come true!releasing wedding lanterns
