Glam Wedding Style Photos from Jamaica

Today’s destination wedding inspiration shoot is brought to us by Manuela Stefan Photography, who knew she found something special when she landed upon this Jamaica wedding location.  She shared with us a bit about the inspiration and design of this “could be” wedding day.

Borghinvilla is a spectacular wedding venue with an exquisite blend of the most desirable details in one place: two acres of lush tropical gardens, cliffs, a sand beach and breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea.

In contrast to the natural elements, the ceremony and reception decor chosen included luxurious items such as hanging chandeliers, crystals, soft white and blush roses and candle light. The turquoise sea view acted as the most incredible backdrop.

Beautiful Black Tie Destination Wedding at Round Hill

Kerby and Michael hailed from the south down to Jamaica for their swanky black tie destination wedding at the beautiful Round Hill Hotel and Villas. Kerby was kind enough to give us a peek into the makings of this magical event in the Caribbean. We wanted a black tie, destination wedding, at an intimate location. Round Hill is just that. It is small, it is rich and feels exclusive. My vision for our wedding was elegant, formal, chic, classic and luxurious. Round Hill has the old Hollywood feel that I absolutely love. It is timeless. It offers many venues for wedding events–other than the beach! I am from Destin, Florida, some of the prettiest beaches in the world. But I only enjoy the beach to get a suntan. I wanted no part of a “beachy” wedding or wedding events on sand, but wanted our guests to enjoy a Caribbean vacation. Round Hill has amazing terraces, lush greenery and exquisite Villas. It is so dreamy.

I opted for Black Tie simply because I wanted a formal wedding. It set the tone for our entire wedding weekend. My guests looked magnificent and the vision I had came to life. We should have had a red carpet ;) kidding.

We had four wedding events–Thursday night Cocktail Party, Friday night Rehearsal Dinner and Saturday Ceremony and Reception. We had each of the events at a different location on the property and they were all perfect. The food is wonderful and stunning. The staff is warm and genuine.

We did not see each other before the ceremony, so walking down the isle and seeing each other for the first time was our favorite moment.

We also thoroughly enjoyed our first dances. We danced to two of our favorite songs and it was a loving and fun first moment as husband and wife.

We asked Kerby about the decision to host a destination wedding and advice for our readers planning one now. It’s the best decision we made. It can be intimidating and overwhelming, but find a place you love and you won’t regret it. If you are able to travel to your venue to plan, I would highly recommend it, especially if you are OCD like me:)

I don’t like surprises so being hands on in the planning and face to face with the staff was an absolute must. We had two visits to Round Hill prior to our wedding weekend. Depending on your location and photographer, I would strongly suggest taking day-after pictures.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Tropical Beach Destination Wedding in Jamaica

Taylor and Matthew opted for a destination wedding in Jamaica, at Sandals Montego Bay, where friends and loved ones gathered to celebrate a very personal ceremony and experience.  The couple shared with us a bit about their big day.

We knew we wanted to have a destination wedding, but didn’t have a specific location in mind. We ended up choosing Jamaica because of the ease of travel for our guests and we had heard from friends that the culture and the people were really amazing. We loved every bit of it and the Jamaican people were so much fun and so kind and made the event even more special.

We have been to quite a few weddings together over the past 5 years (over 30 in total!) and were so excited to plan our own big day. We wanted a more relaxed setting and we chose a destination wedding so that we would have a little more time to spend with our family and friends who were able to come. The day was so perfect! The weather was beautiful, everything came together as well as we could have hoped, and the Jamaican culture was so unique and special to have as part of our wedding celebration.

For us personally, the first look was one of the most memorable moments of the day and the part of the day that we can actually remember clearly! One of our favorite parts of the evening was definitely the saxophone player who played live during the cocktail hour. It set the tone for the whole night and our guests were up dancing before the cocktail hour was over! Most of them are still talking about that as their favorite part of the weekend.

We wanted the wedding to feel very personal, especially because our friends and family traveled so far to spend the day with us, so we added a lot of details throughout the event to leave our mark on it. We sent our guests cocktail kits and drink vouchers in the mail ahead of time so they could enjoy a drink on the plane, welcomed everyone with a personalized itinerary, and had gifts waiting in the rooms for our bridal party. Some of our favorite elements from the wedding day were our jenga guest book and my “An Ideal Husband” clutch.

We wanted a fun relaxed vibe where everything looked like it belonged together but nothing matched exactly. It was a little nerve racking because we didn’t see everything together until the day of the wedding!

We chose options from a few different packages that the resort offered so that we ended up with a combination that felt like our own. Each bridesmaid was able to choose her own dress so that she felt comfortable and we brought the bouquets and corsages with us so that everyone had an option that matched her dress. We kept the palette pretty neutral so that all the different colors and details stayed cohesive and were thrilled with the end result.

One of the funniest and most memorable moments was trying to cut our wedding cake. The staff was very insistent that we cut the cake a certain way to wanted to make sure we got the exact perfect photo! It took us about 20 minutes to cut the thing and we were laughing the whole time.

Congratulations to the newlyweds!

Montego Bay, Jamaica Destination Wedding

day after wedding shoot

Danice and James landed on Jamaica for their destination wedding at the Grand Palladium, where close friends and family gathered for a great party and an intimate wedding ceremony.  The pair found the location simply from searching online!  They wanted a space for the ceremony that was colorful but culturally neutral since she’s Filipino and he’s Puerto Rican and they weren’t hosting a wedding in either place.

The brightly colored tropical vibe of the wedding lend itself perfectly to the feeling of fun they wanted to have!

Wedding photographer Olivia Vale described the day and experience for us.  “Close family and a laid-back sense of fun are the most important thing to both Danice and James. They wanted the beautiful breeziness of a tropical wedding, and just wanted the closest people in their lives to be there. They had about 40 guests who flew in to celebrate with them.  The morning began with getting ready in the gorgeous Grecian villas, followed by a pavilion ceremony surrounded by water and a sculpture garden, and ended with a reception on the sweeping veranda overlooking both ocean and infinity pool. The main theme was fun, and there was plenty of it; but also some very tender moments too.”

Guests were given fans at the ceremony to keep cool and as a keepsake from the wedding.

Bellefield Great House, Montego Bay, Jamaica Wedding Inspiration

jamaica wedding locations

Today’s inspiration shoot comes to us all the way from Montego Bay, Jamaica at the historic Bellefield Great House.  The mastermind behind the shoot was stylist Pierre Carr, who shared with us a bit about the idea and inspiration.  “I was inspired by the Twilight wedding and the relaxed outdoor feel it portrayed and as many of the islands in the Caribbean have lush greenery but little is seen of them as a wedding option I wanted the photo shoot to be a great opportunity to showcase this.”

vintage wedding jewelrypeep toe bridal shoes

This isn’t your everyday beach wedding shoot, Pierre wanted to show a different side of Jamaica.

“As I wanted to step away from the beach I was looking for two things: I wanted an island with a varied landscape and I wanted to show off the history of the island and feature a grand plantation house. If I could find these two things then I felt I would get all the elements of the rustic theme I was looking for, for the shoot.

Jamaica came top of this list, as it not only has majestic mountains and cascading waterfalls but an abundance of fertile plains, which really shows of its natural beauty.”

Pierre’s team captured the softer side of a rustic wedding while photographer Mark Anthony Chen had some fun with the horse posing as another model.  “The horse was borrowed from the local stables near by. The model was actually scared of animals. But you don’t notice it do you?”

The house has such history, it became the perfect backdrop for the special shoot.  “Bellefield Great House and Estate, built in 1794, is one of the oldest sugar plantations in Jamaica and surrounded by every possible rustic element you could imagine including the lush greenery it was the perfect fit for this rustic shoot.”

Grande Garden created this magical oasis of baby’s breath for a ceremony under a canopy of flowers.

“All the outdoor settings were a natural part of the estate – so we worked with the surrounding as all of the rustic elements were there.”

“The gypsophila flowers were perfect to give a relaxed but dramatically pretty feel.”

The fashion and styling was also fitting of the era they wanted to share.  “The simple pearl jewelery and the Charlotte Casadejus Audrey dress with its flattering, flowy, silk georgette material and antique beading really illustrated a bygone era and fitted the theme beautifully.”

“The Great House is so well maintained it still has all of the original items such as the drinking tankards, ceremonial benches, candelabras and glass vases we were able to use which dates back to the 1700’s.”

“The textured cake – the branches and foliage was made by the cake designer which is a real alternative to just using foliage and shows that all things are possible if you find the right talent.”
